The dual mobility non cemented acetabular component TAO is designed for primary surgeries.
Of hemispheric and solid profile without holes, it has 3 spikes to guarantee the optimal initial stability and double porous coating Porofitt + hidroxyapatite (HA) assures fixation in the long term. The good fixation between the metallic component and the bone assures that movements do not take place, that can alter the distribution of loads adapted between pelvis and fémur.
The implant decomposes the anatomic movement of the hip joint into two prosthetic joints:
- That of the polyethylene liner articulating and holding the femoral head, which takes part in a 75% of the joint movements.
- That of the metallic cup freely articulating over the polyethylene liner, which is involved only in wide angle movements.
The contacts (stem-cup & stem-insert) are linear to avoid the previous balances to the dislocation.
The double mobility TAO obtains:
- Diminishes the dislocation risk
- Increases the range of mobility (130º - 141º depending on size ROM)
- Acts as a brake in the movements of extreme amplitude
- Annulates the risk of pulling out and mobilizizng of the metallic component.
